Meet the Team

Tom Whiteley

Tom is the owner and Managing Director of Veluca who thrives in leading teams to a common goal. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 13 years' experience in the planning and delivery of major road, rail and public transport projects.

Solving problems and identifying value for money opportunities for the client is a strong focus of Toms’. He is able to effectively manage multi-disciplinary teams and achieve client objectives to the desired time, cost and quality. This is achieved through his extensive technical background, natural communication skills and ability to lead from the front. Over his career he has primarily focused on roles in design management, project management, road design, tender preparation and cost estimation.

In his spare time, Tom enjoys taking his boat out, running his dogs on the beach or escaping in the 4wd for a few days camping.

Samantha Green

Samantha is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in the corporate industry. At Veluca, we are lucky enough to have her working behind the scenes as an Executive Assistant. She has an eye for detail and ensures all our systems and operations are running smoothly. Relying on her professional career, Samantha is able to continually drive efficiency and be relied upon by the rest of the team as the ‘go to’ for all matters.

When she is not helping prepare tenders, Samantha is kept busy chasing her two children. She values spending quality time with her family and friends.

Caleb Brown

Caleb is a highly motivated Chartered Civil Engineer and Project Manager that draws upon strong relationships and technical experiences to deliver solutions and outcomes for projects that exceed client expectations. He has 16 years’ of professional experience in the planning, design and delivery of major road and passenger transport infrastructure projects across Queensland. During this time, Caleb has developed a strong understanding of industry requirements, formed valuable working relationships with key stakeholders and built a reputation as a sought-after resource.

Caleb’s ability to manage multidisciplinary projects effectively through the entire project lifecycle stems from his proficient understanding of industry standards, procedures, policies, and guidelines. Combined with his natural communication skills, Caleb ensures that contract deliverables are fit-for purpose and within the client’s expectation for time, quality, and cost.

When not in the office, Caleb loves spending time with his family and is an avid sport fan.

Anthony Goebel

Anthony is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 13 years’ experience in the design, coordination and delivery of multi-faceted infrastructure projects both internationally and domestically. Having fulfilled various roles in the industry as project engineer, civil designer and project manager has allowed Anthony to develop a broad set of skills to become a well sought-after resource.

Anthony’s ability to manage projects with confidence stems from his strong technical background and natural leadership abilities. In his career, Anthony has been responsible for leading, managing and delivering infrastructure projects through all phases of a project life cycle.

In his spare time, Anthony enjoys camping with friends and family, BBQing and getting to the beach for a stand-up paddleboard.

Jeremy Brownbill

Jeremy has over 13 years’ experience in the delivery of multi-faceted transport infrastructure projects including rail, road and public transport. He has fulfilled various roles on major projects such as project manager, design manager, senior engineer and technical advisor across all phases of the project lifecycle, which has lead him to develop a broad base of technical knowledge and experience in delivering projects under various project delivery models.

Jeremy is a Chartered Engineer, and is also registered to APEC and IPEA Registers which recognises his substantial equivalence of professional competence in engineering.

In his spare time, Jeremy has his hands full with his active 18 month old daughter, but enjoys keeping up to date with the NBA basketball and taking trips to the Sunshine Coast to visit family and the beach.

Angus Brown

Angus is a Principal Environmental Planner who has built a career through his integral role in the delivery of major infrastructure projects. With over 15 years' experience, Angus continues to lead the delivery of environmental assessments and approvals for planning phase, detailed design and construction for major projects. He is a firm believer of being involved throughout all stages of a project’s delivery to understand how decisions made during planning impact on cost and schedule during delivery.

Angus is highly motivated by seeking fit for purpose solutions to challenging problems. His experience in delivering environmental approvals provides him with integral understanding of the requirements for project delivery including cost, time, design and environmental considerations.

Outside of his day to day as an environmental planner, Angus spends his spare time crafting new brews to go on tap at locations in and around Brisbane.

Paul Cummins

Paul is a Chartered Civil Engineer, with over 10 years' experience in the planning and delivery of transport infrastructure projects in highly constrained urban areas and isolated rural areas. He is continually commended for his ability to utilise his experience in de-risking projects in the early stage of the project life cycle (options analysis/business cases).

Paul has a particular interest in the selection and design of active transport infrastructure, with experience working on the design of some of Queensland’s busiest bikeways including the Veloway 1 in Brisbane. Paul has developed an acute understanding of the design constraints of transport upgrade projects in highly urbanised corridors and the challenges faced in incorporating high quality active transport infrastructure into networks while balancing the need to support other transport modes.

When Paul is not outdoors, mountain biking, hiking or kayaking he is at home doing DIY projects.

Haidar Etemadi

Haidar is a Senior Environmental Planner with over 6 years’ of valued experience in environmental planning and approvals in both private and public sectors working on major infrastructure projects across Queensland and New South Wales. Haidar is an outcomes-focused planner who attains a strong technical foundation and experience in project management and as approvals lead for major projects.

Haidar is recognised for delivering high quality work, his adaptive nature, ability to efficiently coordinate projects and continually deliver results with a positive attitude. His involvement in a vast array of complex developments and experience in all key project phases allows him to efficiently understand and progress the task at hand and appreciate the given timeframes, costs, and quality requirements.

Haidar also enjoys spending his time with his family, volunteering and training at the gym or kickboxing.

Gordon Kleynhans

Gordon is a Principal Engineer with 30 years’ experience in the design and construction of civil, structural, rail, defence, aviation, industrial and health infrastructure projects. He has fulfilled multiple roles on these projects including design management, contract management, site management, superintendent, and client-side project management.

Gordon draws on his design background to be able to play a vital role in managing design phases but also to instigate design solutions during the delivery phase to resolve critical construction coordination issues. He is an exceptionally strong communicator and negotiator with excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.

When not delivering results, Gordon finds himself doing DIY projects around the house and spending quality time with his family.

Daniel Ash

Daniel is a Chartered Professional Engineer with 15 years' experience in the built environment and transport infrastructure sectors across multi-national, private and statutory authority organisations. Daniel has a strong history of performance leading complex multidisciplinary projects in civil infrastructure, maritime, industrial buildings and mining. He has exposure to all stages of project life cycle including scoping, procurement, planning, construction support and verification.

Daniel is best known for his knowledge in the design of new bridges and associated road infrastructures. He is proficient in multiple analysis software and methods including strong capability in FEA, fatigue, thermal analysis and vibration dynamics. He is a specialist in bridge asset management, providing strategic program consulting and niche experience in advanced structural health monitoring systems with a range of cutting-edge technologies.

Outside of work, Daniel is an outdoor enthusiast and traveller, is multi-lingual and seeks adventures in hiking, surfing, diving and fishing.
